Why absorbent stone

Absorbent stone coasters are made from porous sandstone or ceramic that pulls moisture into the coaster instead of leaving a ring on the table. The water evaporates over time. The cork or felt backing keeps the stone from scratching furniture. CoasterStone coasters are listed here alongside other brands.

Printing on stone

Most stone coasters are printed in full color, edge to edge, so photos, maps and multi-color logos reproduce well. Some are deep etched for a textured, tone-on-tone mark. Printed stone keeps its image for years, but the surface is matte, so very small text should be avoided.

Shapes, sizes and car coasters

Standard stone coasters are about 4″ round or square. Car coasters are 2.5″ across and fit a cup holder, which makes them a good giveaway for car dealers and insurance agents. Sets of four in a kraft box or with a holder are listed in coaster gift sets.

Questions buyers ask

Do stone coasters stain?

Absorbent stone can show a light mark from colored drinks such as coffee or red wine. The printed image stays intact. For bars, a PVC or rubber coaster is easier to clean.

Can stone coasters break?

Yes, they can chip or crack if dropped on a hard floor. They ship well packed, but they are not meant for bars where coasters get thrown around.

Are stone coasters made in the USA?

Some stone coasters are made in the USA and many are imported. The Made in field on each product page shows the country.
